Fair Tax Monitor in Bangladesh 2018 – an Overview

On Monday, September 16th, a local Bangladeshi development NGO, SUPRO, hosted a view-exchanging program in Dhaka (as the event was referred to by the Dhaka Tribune) in order to discuss the findings of a research paper they have been writing in collaboration with Oxfam about the nature and consequences of the Bangladeshi tax system on national inequality.

Hosted in the Center on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP), the event had been organized in order to present SUPRO and Oxfam’s findings following a report the two organizations are working on jointly, done within the framework of the Fair Tax Monitor (FTM). The Minister of Planning of Bangladesh , Ma Mannan, and the former chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Mohammad Abdul Mazid, were present alongside SUPRO’s chairman Abdul Awal.
